I FINALLY got to experience the Disney Wish, and it absolutely blew me away! I had heard mixed reviews from friends and was completely surprised by how much I enjoyed this new Disney ship. As with any vacation, not everything was perfect, but I found more reasons to love it than not. Here are my top seven reasons you should plan your next Disney Cruise on the Wish!

1. The Most Beautiful Disney Ship

It really is hard to capture just how beautiful the Disney Wish truly is. The staterooms all feature upscale gold fixtures, gorgeous artwork, and subtle Disney theming. We stayed in a Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah stateroom with Frozen theming, and I loved everything about it. The neutral colors help to make even the bathroom feel larger, and the modern furnishings are luxurious.

The layout of the Disney Wish is completely different than any of the other ships. It did take a while to get the hang of it, and there were areas that felt tight despite it being Disney’s largest ship. However, just like the staterooms, every detail is stunning and there are so many Disney touches like Mary Blair art and Walt Disney Imagineering maquettes. I even got used to only having forward and aft elevators! I typically don’t use the midship elevators on the Dream and Fantasy because of how crowded they typically are. To me, the location of the Disney Wish elevators is more convenient, even with our stateroom being towards the very aft of the ship.

I even really enjoyed the theming and layout of the buffet, Marceline Market! The café area usually had seats available and was more comfortable and relaxed. I also felt like the style of crew members serving at each buffet station helped keep the line moving and efficient. I heard stories of not being able to find seating at Marceline Market and did not find this to be the case, even on an almost completely sold-out sailing.

2. Interactive Dining

Our family, including my two-year-old, had a great time during our dinners at Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle. Even though I did not enjoy the food much at either restaurant, both shows were so fun and kept my toddler entertained. To me, it just makes sense that a Disney Cruise Line dinner would include characters and entertainment. Cruise line dinners are notoriously long, and having these shows is another way cruising with Disney is so family-friendly.

3. The Food at 1923

Another rotational dining location, 1923, has hands-down the best dinner menu! Even though I did not care for the food on the other evenings, 1923 more than made up for it. Rotational dining has no right to be this delicious. Everything I tried was incredible, so don’t be shy and order everything your heart desires!

4. The Best Quick Service at Sea

I couldn’t love a cruise without good food because cruising = eating. Luckily for me, the quick-service options on the pool deck called “Festival of Foods” were SO good. In particular, Mickey’s Smoke Stack BBQ and Donald’s Cantina were equally delicious, with plenty of options. I even thought the basic options, like burgers and pizza, were far superior to the other Disney ships. We even skipped the Pirate Night dinner to eat by the pool. Just keep in mind that a few of the locations close at 6 pm, so you’ll want to grab your dinner early!

5. So Many Unique Lounges

First of all, you can now get great coffee in multiple locations! Usually, your go-to stop would be the Cove Café, which is great but is an adult-exclusive area. I loved being able to stop by the Wishing Star or Enchanted Sword each morning, both located by the Grand Hall.

In addition to a great cup of coffee, the unique cocktail options and Skywalker wines in the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge were fantastic! The Star Wars theming was fun for the entire family, and we were frequently able to find a seat after dinner.

Not a secret anymore but the old-fashioned bar inside Hook’s Barbery is a phenomenal experience. Whether you are a connoisseur or new to old fashions, the mixologist here can tailor your drink to make it truly personalized.

6. More Spaces for Families

This was my toddler’s first cruise and I found the wish had so many spaces for families. Even the main pool deck had more seating and more pools that seemed to help disperse crowds better.

The Toy Story Splash Pad was a major highlight, located near a small pool and Slide-a-Saurus Rex. Even better, the Chip ‘n’ Dale Pool on deck 14 is family-friendly with lots of seating and is near Currents, which offers a full bar and other beverages. Both of these spaces would be similar to where the Quiet Cove on the Dream and Fantasy is located. So, I understand why adult cruisers would likely be disappointed, but it does help give families more spaces to enjoy.

7. 3 and 4 Night Itineraries from Port Canaveral

Even though I always want more time on a Disney Cruise, the three and four-night itineraries are perfect for new cruisers and little ones. It’s a great way to experience the ship and visit Disney’s Castaway Cay in The Bahamas. Port Canaveral also offers the opportunity to easily visit Walt Disney World before and after your cruise! The Disney Cruise Line transportation to the port makes for an expedited, easy experience and what better way to cure your post-cruise blues than more time at Disney??

Disney Cruise Line is honestly my favorite way to vacation with Disney, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the Disney Wish! Since the upcoming Disney Treasure and Destiny will be part of the same Triton Class as the Wish, I’m even more excited for the future of cruising with Disney! What are some of your favorite things about the Disney Wish?
