In addition to the changes to the alcohol policy, Disney Cruise Line is making a couple of other small policy updates that will begin rolling out across its ships starting June 3, 2026. While neither is huge, they’re both worth knowing before you pack.
First up, selfie sticks and tripods.
You can still bring them, so don’t panic. But there are now clearer limits on how they can be used. If your device is folded and under 18 inches, you’re good to use it in most areas around the ship. Anything longer than that needs to stay in your stateroom and can only be used when you’re off the ship.
This feels like Disney trying to rein things in a bit without taking them away completely. If you’ve ever been in a crowded area, you know how quickly those can become a problem.
The other update touches on something a lot of Disney Cruise fans love: stateroom door decorations.

That tradition isn’t going anywhere, but Disney is tightening where those decorations can go. Moving forward, everything needs to stay on your stateroom door only. No hallway walls, no ceilings. Just the door.
And to be clear, all the usual rules still apply. That means following the guidelines around the materials used and making sure nothing damages the door or surrounding area.

Guests can get really creative with their decorations, but sometimes that spills out into the hallway a bit more than it probably should.
Neither of these upcoming changes should change your cruise in a major way. They just set a few clearer boundaries. If you’re bringing camera gear or planning to decorate your stateroom door, these are easy adjustments to make ahead of time.
The new changes are happening in phases across the fleet as follows:
- June 3: Disney Fantasy
- June 4: Disney Adventure and Disney Magic
- June 5: Disney Wish
- June 6: Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny
- June 8: Disney Dream and Disney Wonder
