Palo is a beloved signature restaurant exclusive to Disney Cruise Line ships. Palo Brunch is a favorite for many cruisers, but there are just as many, if not more, people who would rather have dinner at this beautiful upscale Italian restaurant. But what if you only want to go to Palo for dessert?
With plenty of non-breakfast items available on the brunch menu – I’m looking at you, Chicken Parmesan and Lasagna – brunch reservations tend to fill up quickly, but there is one standout dessert that can only be found on the dinner menu.
The chocolate soufflé with vanilla bean and chocolate sauce is, without a doubt, the house favorite dessert, but we have a hot take to share with you about this decadent masterpiece that you may not be aware of. No, you can’t get it during brunch service, but you do not have to skip your main dining rotation to partake.
That’s right; you can stop by the host stand in front of the restaurant’s entrance and make a reservation for soufflé only after you’ve eaten dinner! Even if you have the later seating at 8:15 pm, you can still enjoy this special treat. Palo closes at 10 pm, so you’ll want to ensure you have enough time to enjoy this at your leisure.
I should also mention, especially if you’ve never had this dessert before, that I took the image above the instant that the server set the plate down in front of me. Once they place your dessert on the table, the server will dig into the middle of your soufflé and pour the sauces into it together. When I first had this experience, I thought it was odd that the server would sort of “destroy” your soufflé instead of letting you dig into it. Maybe you want to try a bite with one sauce or the other? I’m sure that if someone wanted to do the honors themselves, they’d simply need to ask. Please let me know in the comments section if you’ve ever asked! Nonetheless, the soufflé is terrific with the vanilla bean ice cream.
At the time of my last sailing in March 2025, the soufflé price was $12 (plus tax and gratuity), and for that price and those Palo views, it’s an experience that’s well worth it.
Have you ever done this while sailing with Disney Cruise Line?
