One of the best parts of a Disney cruise is waking up in a brand-new destination. Whether you’re interested in snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, soaring over glaciers in Alaska, exploring ancient ruins, or simply relaxing on a beautiful beach, Disney Cruise Line offers a wide variety of shore excursions known as Port Adventures.
Once onboard, the Port Adventures Desk is your go-to resource for everything related to these experiences.
What Is the Port Adventures Desk?
The Port Adventures Desk is staffed by knowledgeable crew members who can answer questions about excursions available during your sailing. If you’re still deciding what to do in an upcoming port, they can explain the different options, discuss activity levels, and help you find experiences that best fit your family’s interests.
If availability remains, they can also book excursions after you’ve boarded the ship.
In addition to shore excursions, the Port Adventures Desk can assist with reserving beach equipment and bicycle rentals for Disney Castaway Cay.
Where Is the Port Adventures Desk?
The location varies depending on your ship.
- Disney Magic and Disney Wonder: Deck 3, Midship
- Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy: Deck 5, Midship
- Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny: Deck 4, Midship
- Disney Adventure:
Operating hours vary by sailing and are listed in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re onboard.
What Types of Port Adventures Are Available?
Disney Cruise Line partners with local tour operators around the world to offer excursions for many different interests and activity levels.
Depending on your itinerary, you may find experiences such as:
- City sightseeing tours
- Wildlife viewing
- Glacier and nature excursions
- Snorkeling and water sports
- Cultural experiences
- Adventure activities
- Flightseeing tours
- Beach days
- Family-friendly excursions
- Select teen-only experiences
The available excursions differ from port to port, so you’ll see different options depending on your itinerary.
Booking and Availability
Many popular Port Adventures can sell out before your cruise begins, especially on Alaska, European, and specialty itineraries.
If you haven’t booked before sailing, it’s still worth visiting the Port Adventures Desk once onboard. Occasionally, additional space becomes available, or guests cancel reservations before the ship arrives in port.
Crew members can also answer questions about excursion requirements, accessibility, and meeting locations.
Cancellation Policy
Port Adventures may generally be canceled up to three days before your cruise departure date.
After that deadline, reservations are typically final and non-refundable. Prices and availability may change without notice.
Important Information Before Going Ashore
When leaving or returning to the ship, every guest must present their Key to the World card at the gangway.
Guests ages 18 and older should also carry a government-issued photo ID when going ashore.
Guests under 18 who wish to explore a port without an accompanying adult must have prior authorization from a parent or guardian. This authorization can be completed during Online Check-In or onboard at Guest Services before arriving in port. Identification requirements for unaccompanied minors may vary depending on the destination.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult on most Port Adventures unless the excursion is specifically designated as a teen-only experience.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Port Adventures are operated by independent local companies rather than Disney Cruise Line itself. Because of this, excursions may occasionally be modified or canceled due to weather, port conditions, operational changes, or other unforeseen circumstances.
If you have questions about an excursion during your cruise, the Port Adventures Desk is always the best place to stop for the most up-to-date information.
