Guests sailing aboard the Disney Treasure on October 10, 2026, won’t find their usual Key to the World cards waiting outside their stateroom doors. Disney Cruise Line is testing wearable wristbands on this particular sailing, and guests who don’t already have a DisneyBand+ will receive one during check-in at the terminal.
According to an email Disney Cruise Line sent to travel advisors with clients booked on this particular sailing, the new wristbands will be distributed during the check-in process at the cruise terminal.

Guests who already have a DisneyBand+ will simpy use them as usual, with activation taking place during check-in. However, guests without a DisneyBand+ will receive a wearable Key to the World wristband instead of the traditional card normally found outside their stateroom.

Disney says the test is part of its ongoing efforts to make the cruise experience more convenient for guests. Having a wearable alternative to the traditional card could be particularly helpful when spending time at the pool, enjoying activities around the ship, or simply moving between venues without having to keep track of a separate card, unless you’re not a fan of wearables.
There are a few important differences between these test wristbands and DisneyBand+. Unlike DisneyBand+, the new Key to the World wristbands will only work during this specific sailing and cannot be used for other Disney experiences.
Guests will also need to return the wristbands at the end of their cruise. Disney says collection containers will be available outside the Disney Cruise Line terminal for guests to deposit them after disembarking.
For now, the test has only been confirmed for the October 10 Disney Treasure sailing. Disney hasn’t announced whether the wristbands will be tested on additional cruises or eventually introduced across the fleet.
The company also made a point of reminding guests that it regularly experiments with new offerings and procedures, and not every test becomes a permanent part of the guest experience.
It’ll be interesting to see how guests respond to this alternative, particularly those who don’t already own a DisneyBand+. Could wearable Key to the World wristbands eventually replace traditional cards aboard Disney Cruise Line ships? We’ll have to wait and see how this test goes.
