On a recent episode of The DIS Unlimited DCL Show, we talked about what it’s like to take a Disney Cruise as an adult, without kids. Many people think Disney cruises are only for families, but there are plenty of reasons why an adults-only Disney cruise can be one of your best vacations.
Why Adults Love Disney Cruising
Service and Cleanliness
We all know the cast members set Disney apart. The service is outstanding, and the ships are always spotless and well maintained.
Atmosphere
Disney ships are beautiful, but more importantly, the crowd feels different compared to other cruise lines. Guests are generally respectful, creating a pleasant environment where you can relax.

Childlike Fun
Even without kids, you get to enjoy activities that bring out your inner child. Think trivia, drawing classes, or late-night adult game shows.

Entertainment
We’re talking Broadway-quality shows, live music, and lounge performances that feel like they belong in major theaters.

Adult-Only Spaces and Activities
- Pools and Spa: Every ship has an adult-only pool area. The spa is also reserved for adults, and the Rainforest Room on the Dream and Wish-class ships are incredible retreats.

- Entertainment: Trivia, karaoke, comedy shows, and even magic acts are tailored for adults in the evenings.
- Seminars and Tastings: Mixology, martini, whiskey, or champagne tastings are available. They’re some of the most fun and social activities you can book.
- Nightclubs and Lounges: From Hyperspace Lounge to The Rose, there are plenty of spaces designed for adults to unwind away from family activity areas.

- “Match Your Mate”: A hilarious, adults-only game show that has become a fan favorite.
- Art of the Theme Show Tour: This Imagineering tour gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how the ships were designed and built.
- Broadway Visiting Actor Seminars: Meet performers, hear their stories, and enjoy live Disney songs in a more intimate setting.
Adults-Only Beaches and Excursions
- Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay: This is your peaceful escape on Disney’s private island, complete with adult cabanas and a laid-back atmosphere.
- Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point: The adult area is separated from the family beach, giving you a calm spot to recharge.

- Adult-Only Excursions: When you’re in ports like Alaska, Norway, or Europe, you can filter for excursions that are designed only for adults.
Planning Tips for Adult Cruisers
- Destination First: Pick where you want to go, then choose the ship.
- Time of Year: If you cruise during the school year, you’ll see fewer kids onboard. Destinations like Alaska also naturally attract fewer families.
- Dining Times: The late seating tends to be quieter, and Disney’s “Dine and Play” program helps clear out kids early so you can enjoy dinner in peace.
- Dress Codes: Be ready to dress up if you plan to dine at Remy or Enchanté.
Which Ships Work Best for Adults?
- Wish Class Ships: Beautiful, but less ideal for adults seeking quiet spaces. The adult pool area feels smaller and more crowded, as well as only offering one jacuzzi.
- Magic and Dream Class: These ships are better suited if you want nightlife. Their adult districts give you more separation from family areas, even if things typically wind down by 10:30 or 11:00 PM. Plus, the adult pool areas are much more spacious and include more jacuzzis.

Final Thoughts
When we sail without kids, we get to experience Disney Cruise Line in a whole new way. You still feel the magic, but you enjoy it at your own pace, in adult spaces designed for relaxation and fun. Whether it’s lounging at Serenity Bay, sipping cocktails at The Rose, or singing along at a Broadway-style show, Disney cruises are just as special for adults as they are for families.
