Bear with me, friends; I’ve been thinking about this one for a long time. It’s no secret; I love two things, Disney and LEGO, and when they come together to make something beautiful and creative, I am here for it. Now, I can’t pretend that I have the time or money to invest in every set, or even a lot of them, but there is something so uniquely clever that always catches my eye and leaves me admiring them. It was not that long ago when I was looking at what might be the 20th iteration of a Disney Castle that I started to wonder what’s next for the Disney x LEGO collaboration. Apart from new movies and characters inspired by a different storyline or scene, the sets specifically related to Disney Parks seem few and far between. Some of you might remember that I had a fascination as a child with recreating Disney attractions with thousands of mismatched, combined LEGO sets, and I always wondered why neither company had made a concerted effort to take this product line further. Then, on one of my many sleepless nights, something came to me that I can’t shake the idea of: Disney Cruise Line Ships.
Picture them in a mini line, a series of each ship that would be suitable for even kids to build as they await their exciting Disney Cruise Line adventure to come, or just for those who love the idea of a Disney-themed ship build. Then, work your way up to an advanced or expert set, larger in scale and more intricate in detail. A stateroom that folds out, the AquaDuck Water Slide, and so many other features that any DCL fan would love. Each one would have particular details specific to each of the ships in the fleet, making them, of course, a collectible series for fans of LEGO or Disney Cruise Line to collect, build, and remind them of their delightful days at sea.
It feels like sort of a mic-drop moment, though I can understand that if you can’t see how this plays out in my head, it would be a little hard to imagine. Even so, am I the only person who would love to see a Disney Cruise Line x LEGO merch collab sail in from the high seas with all the characters dressed in the nautical minifigure best? What aspects of your favorite Disney ship would you want to see included in the advanced build? I’m going down the rabbit hole on this armchair imagineering exercise, friends; come and join me!
