Disney Cruise Line: THIS or THAT? Part 2 – More Choices, More Debates!

Chris Vorobek, Elaine, and Federico debate their Disney Cruise Line preferences, from Pirate Night costumes and photo packages to Wi-Fi and departure day routines.

How much do you dress up for Pirate Night? Would you rather spend a sea day sleeping in or getting an early start? And when it’s time to leave the ship, are you packed and ready the night before, or are you still stuffing things into your suitcase that morning?

On this week’s DCL Show, Chris Vorobek, Elaine Edwards, and Federico Argár are back for Part 2 of their Disney Cruise Line “This or That?” game. They’re sharing more of their personal cruising habits, and once again, they don’t always agree!

Pirate Night: All Out or Keep It Simple?

If you’ve ever wondered how seriously Elaine takes Pirate Night, the answer is very seriously. She brings multiple complete costumes, and her outfits are so elaborate that another guest once asked whether she worked for Disney!

Federico is on the opposite end of the spectrum. He’s perfectly happy skipping the costumes, especially when suitcase space is already limited. Chris falls somewhere in the middle, usually bringing a pirate-themed shirt and a few accessories.

The group also discusses whether they choose cruises based on the ship or the itinerary, and how many nights make for the perfect vacation. Elaine prefers four or five nights, while Federico would happily spend much longer at sea.

Sleeping In or Getting Up Early?

For Elaine, sea days are made for sleeping in. She loves waking up naturally without worrying about an excursion or having somewhere to be.

Federico is more of an early riser, while Chris usually finds himself awake before everyone else, enjoying tea and getting some work done at Cove Café.

Chris does share one memorable exception involving a particularly exhausting Port Adventure in Greece that left his entire family sleeping until nearly lunchtime the following day.

Character Photos: Must-Have or No Thanks?

This might be one of the biggest differences between the three!

Chris loves taking character photos and makes a point of getting a picture with Mickey Mouse on every cruise. He’s even willing to wait in a long line for a particularly special character appearance.

Federico, on the other hand, isn’t especially comfortable with character meet-and-greets and generally avoids them unless he’s working.

Elaine enjoys character encounters, especially when there’s something unique about them. She shares a story about tracking down characters in their special Alaskan outfits during one cruise.

They also get into whether Disney Cruise Line’s photo packages are worth purchasing, and Chris offers some practical advice for guests who aren’t sure they’ll take enough pictures to justify the expense.

Wi-Fi or a Vacation From Your Phone?

Would you pay for internet access on a Disney cruise, or would you rather disconnect completely?

Federico thinks there’s something to be said for putting your phone away and enjoying time with the people you’re traveling with. Elaine isn’t interested in that approach at all! She likes staying connected with family and keeping up with what’s happening back home.

Chris also weighs in on Disney Cruise Line’s internet service, including how well it has worked for him and whether the cost is worthwhile.

Pack the Night Before or Wait Until Morning?

When the final evening rolls around, Federico is already getting organized. He likes having everything packed so his luggage can be collected outside his stateroom.

Elaine has a completely different routine. She’d rather enjoy her last night onboard, pack the following morning, and carry her own luggage off the ship.

The conversation also turns to debarkation day breakfast, saying goodbye to your dining team, and a few things worth taking care of before leaving the ship.

What Would You Choose?

That’s the fun of this series. There’s no single right way to enjoy a Disney cruise, and hearing how differently Chris, Elaine, and Federico approach their vacations might even give you a few new ideas.
