Ever wonder what goes into bringing a brand-new Disney Cruise Line ship to life? We’re about to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Disney Adventure in an upcoming documentary, and it sounds like something Disney Cruise Line fans won’t want to miss!
Disney has announced Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course, a new documentary exploring the story behind the Disney Adventure, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
The documentary is scheduled to begin streaming and airing on November 28, 2026, through Disney+, National Geographic, and JioHotstar.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Disney Adventure
The Disney Adventure is a particularly interesting ship because its story is quite different from the other vessels in Disney’s fleet.
Originally under construction for another cruise line, the ship was acquired by Disney and transformed into the Disney Adventure. That meant taking an existing ship design and adapting it to Disney Cruise Line’s signature style, entertainment, dining, and family experiences.
It’s a fascinating project, and one that should make for some interesting behind-the-scenes footage!
The Disney Adventure is also Disney Cruise Line’s first ship to homeport in Asia, sailing from Singapore. Unlike the traditional Disney cruises many of us are familiar with, its itineraries focus on the ship itself, with guests enjoying the onboard attractions, entertainment, and dining throughout their vacation.
With so much of the Disney Adventure designed around experiences guests can’t find on other Disney ships, there’s certainly plenty of material for a documentary.
When Can You Watch?
Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course is scheduled to debut beginning November 28, 2026, on Disney+, National Geographic, and JioHotstar.
Disney Cruise Line hasn’t shared additional details about the documentary’s runtime or exactly which parts of the ship’s development will be featured. Availability may also vary depending on your location and streaming service.
I’m especially interested in seeing how Disney approached transforming a ship that was already under construction into something that feels like a Disney Cruise Line vacation. That’s a pretty unusual starting point for a new ship!
We’ll be watching for more details as the premiere gets closer.
