If you love Disney characters as much as I do, you can surely appreciate a fabulous photo setting. I recently had the opportunity to visit Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney Cruise Line’s second private island destination in The Bahamas. One of the first things I saw when I got off the tram was a gorgeous tree with big ornaments hanging from the branches. If you look closely at the image above, you can see that each ornament was decorated based on some of our favorite Disney characters, and although they weren’t for sale, I do love seeing anything themed after the costumes of the Fab Five.
After spending a few minutes enjoying all the hanging ornaments, I immediately saw the absolutely gorgeous character backdrops with guests posing for photos. I thought for a moment that maybe the actual Disney characters on the island would be out for meet-and-greets at those spots at some point throughout the day, wearing their island costumes, of course. If you’ve sailed before with Disney Cruise Line, you’ll know that the characters are only out on the island in the earliest part of the day when the first guests get off the ship to head to the beach and enjoy their day. When I’m on a Disney cruise, relaxing is the name of my game. While I’m typically awake early, I prefer to leisurely enjoy several cups of coffee from room service on my verandah, especially when I can see the island from it, so I usually miss seeing the characters, which is quite unfortunate. I really wish that Disney would bring them out a few select times throughout the day so everyone has a chance to take photos with them.
When I first saw these absolutely beautiful displays, I thought for sure that they would be the location for meet and greets. I mean, they’re fun to use for regular photo taking, but it’d definitely be a step up to have the coinciding character there too! Just look at how gorgeous they are with the same Bahamian design that is found on much of the Lookout Cay merchandise!

What I wouldn’t do to be able to take a photo of Minnie Mouse in her Lookout Cay costume right here!!

The first four spots were easy to find as they are located very close to where you get off the tram. Be sure to head out toward the beach to find the last one. After the shops and just to the left (as you’re facing the water) of the Cultural Center, you’ll see one for Pluto! How cute are his ears and paw print?!

Do you enjoy visiting with the Disney characters when you’re on a Disney Cruise Line vacation? And are you obsessed with seeing them in their different costumes like I am?
Please, Disney Cruise Line, give us more opportunities to meet these beloved characters throughout the day at your island destinations!
