One of the biggest driving factors for any Disney fan to book a cruise on the all-new Disney Treasure is the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Period. Point Blank. Full stop.
From the moment Disney unveiled the ship’s name back in 2022 where we caught a quick glimpse at those three hitchhiking ghosts waving from a porthole… we knew: life as a theme park enthusiast would be different. For the first time ever, we finally have Disney theme park-themed spaces aboard a Disney cruise ship, and it feels so good. Between Skipper Society, themed to Jungle Cruise, and Periscope Pub, themed to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (the film and attraction), we already had a pretty sweet lineup. But the Haunted Mansion… in a lounge setting? Somewhere we can sit and just exist within that otherworldly realm we love so much? Pinch me.
I couldn’t wait to board the Disney Treasure for this space alone. While there’s SO MUCH to be said, I wanted to take a moment and highlight some of my favorite details found inside the Treasure’s Haunted Mansion Parlor – specifically those honoring a late, great Imagineer.

While the floor to ceiling details, ghostly sounds floating around the room, and Leota or hitchhiking ghost illusions behind the bar already had my jaw agape, the moment I laid eyes on the sweet nod to Rolly Crump – our Haunted Mansion father, historic Museum of the Weird curator – I became a little choked up. Rolly is responsible for designing, animating, and Imagineering quite the handful of our favorite Disney movies and attractions, including it’s a small world, Enchanted Tiki Room, the Land and Wonders of Life pavilions at EPCOT and… the Haunted Mansion. Rolly sadly passed away in March 2023.

Inside this Haunted Mansion Parlor, there’s an honorable bust of Rolly placed inside the back wall, left of the fireplace. It’s a peculiar design, including claws and scales, with part of his face melted away – similar to one of his creations for the original Haunted Mansion concept, the Candle Man. Below the bust reads “Brother Roland Forever Revered for Embracing the Weird.”

When plans for the original Haunted Mansion attraction for Disneyland were underway, it was Rolly who proposed the creative concept for a āMuseum of the Weirdā exhibit. This separate exhibit was never realized, but some of his ideas were incorporated into the Haunted Mansion we know today, while many remained in the vault…

Now inside the Parlor, you can see one of Rolly’s ideas come to life. The Aquarium with Ghost Fish sits in the [dead] center of the lounge, with an eclectically-designed fish monster tank with ghostly fish skeletons swimming around, appearing and disappearing within the bubbling watery grave.

This same fish monster atop the spooky tank is framing the Parlor’s sign:

Eating my previous words here, but I’m very glad this lounge will also make its way onto the Disney Destiny debuting next year. I don’t mind a repeat venue when it comes to this level of immersion and detail. This is an experience no Haunted Mansion fan should pass by. Book that Treasure or Destiny cruise and hurry back…
