One of my very favorite Thanksgiving traditions is watching and/or listening to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while members of my family and I are busy in the kitchen preparing all of the goodies for dinner that evening.
Back in the days prior to my family’s move to the East coast, my husband and I and our kids, my parents along with my brother and his family would pack up everything and head down to the Oregon Coast where we’d rented the same house on the beach year after year that could accommodate all of us. It’s the best Wednesday through Sunday of the entire year and I miss it so much. For us, this parade marks the official beginning of the holiday season.
While there are always new and different floats in the parade each year, this year will be extra Pixie Dusted as Disney Cruise Line shared that a brand-new cruise ship float will embark on its maiden voyage in New York City as part of the 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
The new float is called “Magic Meets the Sea” and was inspired by the style of the upcoming Disney Wish which will set sail in the summer of 2022. You won’t miss the new float if you’re watching as it features some of the iconic design elements we all know and love including a Mickey Mouse-inspired color palette, towering red funnels, and an intricate filigree motif along the hull.
The float will also spotlight 15 favorite Disney friends who represent the stories and experiences onboard the Disney Wish, including Captain Minnie Mouse, Princess Tiana, Aladdin and Jasmine, Cinderella, and more.
During the parade, Jordan Fisher, the performer of Happily Ever After from the Magic Kingdom‘s previous fireworks show, will be performing an original Disney Cruise Line song entitled, Together We Set Sail.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on NBC-TV on Thursday, November 25 from 9 a.m. to noon in all time zones.
