If staying connected at sea is part of your Disney cruise routine, there’s a new price increase to consider. Disney Cruise Line has adjusted the daily cost of its two onboard internet packages. The standard Internet Package now costs $30 per device per day, up from $26, while the Internet + Streaming Package has increased from $42 to $49 per device per day.
Guests who rely on Wi-Fi to stay in touch with family, work remotely, or stream content in their stateroom will need to account for the higher daily rates. While purchasing internet packages is completely optional on Disney cruises, these changes make it more important than ever to choose the package that best fits your needs.
HOT TIP: If you can sign out of one device to connect another, you can save money by purchasing the package for a single device. I switch between my laptop and cell phone constantly during my cruises, but only purchase the package for one device.
Disney Cruise Line currently offers two onboard internet options, both available for purchase through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re on the ship.
The Internet Package is designed for basic connectivity. It allows guests to browse the web, check email, post on social media, and make audio or video calls using services like FaceTime, WhatsApp, or Zoom. Short-form video on social media platforms such as TikTok or Snapchat is supported, but this plan does not allow long-form streaming from services like Disney+ or Hulu.
The Internet + Streaming Package includes all of those features, along with faster speeds and full access to streaming platforms. Guests can watch movies and TV shows, use YouTube, and listen to audio streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music. Disney notes that video game streaming may work, but performance can vary due to satellite connectivity at sea.
To help you decide, here’s a quick breakdown of common questions.
Which package do I really need?
If you mainly want to message family, post photos, or check email, the standard package is usually enough. If streaming movies or shows is important, the higher-priced streaming package is required.
Do I have to buy it every day?
Internet packages are priced per day, so some guests choose to purchase access only on select days rather than for the entire cruise.
Is it per device?
Yes. The listed prices apply to one device, though guests can switch which device is connected.
Guests can purchase internet access by opening the Navigator app onboard and selecting the “Connect to Internet” option.
As with many onboard extras, internet access is a personal choice. With the new pricing now in place, taking a few minutes before sailing to think about how much connectivity you truly need may help avoid surprises once you’re at sea.
