In Disney Cruise Line circles, the big question these days: Where oh where are the late 2026-early 2027 itineraries?
The short answer: We don’t know. I would love to give you a great reason why Disney Cruise Line has yet to release new itineraries.
- The Disney Cruise Line Blog tracks when releases have occurred over the years – and this particular release announcement has historically been as early as May 11 (in 2017) – and as late as July 21 (in 2022).
All of that is to say… history is not helpful at the moment.
We hear all sorts of reasons as to why Disney Cruise Line has NOT released itineraries:
- Disney Cruise Line just announced that there will NOT be a ship Down Under (Australia/New Zealand) for winter 2026-2027) and they are working on itineraries;
- DCL just released a discount offering 50 percent off 3rd and 4th guests for certain itineraries;
- DCL doesn’t want to distract people from booking available itineraries by releasing new itineraries;
- DCL is shifting to fewer itinerary releases that will cover a greater period of time;
- There are more ships, and it just takes more time to get everything locked down;
- Earlier, we heard they were waiting until August. (Um – it’s August!)
Again, I have no idea if any of these are true – or even partially true. We do know that this is well beyond the time when Disney Cruise Line generally releases itineraries.
We aren’t even sure what the next itinerary release will cover — certainly for the rest of 2026, but… how far into 2027? (I’m guessing it will go through the Spring Break season, but that is just my speculation.)
AND – I fully expect that as soon as I post this, Disney Cruise Line will release itineraries. (Honestly, it is part of the reason I’m writing it!)
BUT… I thought it would be fun to offer some speculation about what the late-2026-early-2027 itineraries might look like.
I also wanted to offer some tips so you are ready for when itineraries ARE released.
THIS IS ALL SPECULATION
What follows is pure speculation. I have no inside knowledge about what Disney Cruise Line is doing — NONE, so… these are my best guesses. I’m also following the model of The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang weather forecasts and I am listing my confidence level of my speculation.
- I’m starting with the ships where it seems less speculative and ending with the ones where the cone of uncertainty is larger. (That is you, Disney Magic!)
There are some key factors that make speculation a bit more complex:
- The Port of Galveston – We have indications that Disney Cruise Line will add the Port of Galveston as one of its home ports, meaning that a Disney ship will be cruising from the Port of Galveston most of the time. (Galveston has been a seasonal port for several years.)
- There are some fairly strong indications that this is the case.
- The Port of Galveston cruise schedule shows the Disney Magic starting on Thursday, November 20, 2026. AND…
- The director of the Port of Galveston has told groups that Disney is going to be cruising out of the Port of Galveston.
- There are more Disney ships. For this itinerary, Disney Cruise Line will have eight ships.
- I understand that some Disney cruisers want Disney to expand its routes and ports of call. But some key points:
- The Caribbean, The Bahamas, and Bermuda are cruise staples. According to data from the Cruise Line International Association in its 2025 State of Cruise Industry report, 43 percent of passengers cruised to those destinations in 2024 — 43 percent! That represents 14.98 million cruisers. And that number represents a 17 percent increase over 2023. The next biggest: The Mediterranean with 5.77 million cruisers, a 5.8 percent increase;
- Personally, I’d love to see Disney Cruise Line add a ship in Southern California – either full-time in San Diego, the Port of Los Angeles, or the Port of Long Beach. It seems to me Disney could then have West Coast land-sea options. Unfortunately, I am not including this as part of my speculation. While I think the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will spend parts of the winter in Southern California, I am not hearing any buzz about this becoming a permanent stay.
- Could the Disney Dream travel to the West Coast? I often read that the Dream-class ships cannot travel through the Panama Canal, but, from what I have read (I am NOT an expert) the Panama Canal expansion would allow the Dream-class ships to travel through the Panama Canal. The big challenge is height – the clearance under the Bridge of Americas is between 201 ft and 205 ft, depending on the tides. The Disney Cruise Line blog reported back in 2015 that the height of the Disney Dream is 188-feet. Again, I have NOT included this in my speculation, but… it may not be out of the realm of possibility.
- I also see regular comments on the DISBoards Disney Cruise Line forum and DCL Fan Facebook group hoping for itineraries out of New York, which have been missing for several years. I also have not included New York as part of my speculation. Sorry. (It could happen, but it would likely be a few itineraries.)
With that – my speculations::
The Disney Wish will continue to do 3- and 4-night Bahamian itineraries out of Port Canaveral;
- These 3- and 4-night Bahamian itineraries are a Disney Cruise Line staple. The Disney Wish currently departs every Friday on a 3-night itinerary, and every Monday on a 4-night itinerary. That isn’t changing;
- These itineraries are also great for guests doing a land-sea trip by combining a visit to The Walt Disney World Resort;
- The only wrinkle here is if Disney Cruise Line decided to change the ship doing these 3- and 4-night itineraries. But… I believe it will continue to be the Disney Wish;
- Confidence: VERY high – that it will be the Disney Wish: High;
The Disney Treasure will continue with 7-night Caribbean itineraries out of Port Canaveral;
- Disney Cruise Line’s sixth ship departs each Saturday – and it toggles between the Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean itineraries;
- Both these itineraries – and the Disney Treasure itself – have been very popular and this is not changing;
- Confidence: VERY high;
The new Disney Destiny will continue doing 3-, 4-, 5, and 7-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises out of Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades;
- Disney Cruise Line’s seventh ship and the third Wish-class ship with its hero-villain theme has its inaugural cruise departing on Thursday, November 20, 2025, – so the late-2026 itineraries will be part of the end of its inaugural year – and my guess is that things aren’t going to change at this point;
- Confidence: High;
The Disney Adventure will continue its tour in Singapore.
- The eighth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet will continue with ‘magic at sea’ itineraries out of Singapore. (Disney Cruise Line has a five-year agreement with Singapore, so… I’m going to cut-and-paste this section for a few years.);
- Confidence: Very High;
The Disney Fantasy will continue to do itineraries out of Port Canaveral;
- This is where the forecast gets more uncertain.
- Outside of its current summer in Europe, the Disney Fantasy has been doing 3-, 4-, and 5-night itineraries out of Port Canaveral – including a 5-night cruise that included The DIS Unlimited team.
- Personally, I really love the 5-night itineraries. My bias here is that more days on a Disney ship is better than fewer days, but sometimes the calendar or the budget doesn’t allow that. (Ugh – reality sucks!) Therefore, the 5-night itinerary is a great alternative – and they seem to have been popular. And the Disney Fantasy continues to be one of the most popular ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
- Confidence: Medium High
The Disney Dream will be back in Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades;
- The Disney Dream will be spending summer 2026 in Europe.
- In general, I am not confident about this predication. There seem to be opportunities here – and the Disney Dream seems like a ship that could have some kind of change.
- Confidence: Medium Low
The Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder are real wild cards.
- Both ships will finish up the summer of 2026 in Alaska.
- If I had to make a guess – and I guess I do – I’d say the Disney Magic will be based at the Port of Galveston, given that we already have some indications that the Disney Magic will be cruising out of the Port of Galveston in November 2026. But… this is a real wild card.
- Will the Disney Wonder visit Hawai’i?
- These two ships are a mystery at the moment. (And, by way of transparency, I had the Disney Wonder going down under – and I listed it as Confidence: Medium — Did I mention this is all speculation?)
- This is one to watch.
- Confidence: Low – meaning I am just not sure;
GET READY FOR LATE-2026-EARLY-2027 ITINERARIES
The best time to book a Disney Cruise — early! I know it seems paradoxical, but…
- Booking early almost always gets you the best price – and, in most cases, if Disney Cruise Line drops a discount, we can apply those even after you have booked;
- Booking early definitely gets you the best options in terms of itineraries;
- Booking early absolutely gets you the best options in terms of staterooms;
- Booking early gets you the best access to that coveted 5:45p dining time.
AND – IF YOUR PLANS CHANGE… You can modify or cancel at any time before your pay-in-full date… and you can pay over time. (NOTE: If you modify your reservation, pricing will be based on fares at the time it is changed.)
PRE-RELEASE
For the early bookings, there are tiers based on Castaway Club membership levels.
- Bookings will start with Pearl… Platinum… Gold… Silver… and then open to the general public. Disney Cruise Line releases those dates along with the new itineraries.
- If you do not have your Castaway Club membership number, you will need that. Your Dreams Unlimited Travel agent can get that for you – or you can get it via the Disney Cruise Line Web site. I have step-by-step instructions on how to do that here
- If you have a Dreams agent, reach out and let them know that you are looking at late-2026-early-2027… and give them an idea of what you are interested in doing. The more information you can provide, the better – time frame, ship, departure port, where you want to cruise.
- If you do not have a Dreams agent and you are interested in getting ahead of the curve, reach out to Future_Bookings@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and we will connect you with one of the Dreams team.
- PLACEHOLDER RESERVATIONS – If you have a placeholder reservation, you will want to confirm that it has been shifted to Dreams Unlimited Travel. REMINDER – Unless you requested to work with Dreams Unlimited Travel when you purchased the placeholder reservation, those must be shifted to Dreams within 30-days of purchase.
Once itineraries are released, we will have information here at DCLFan.com. We will also have a ‘special edition’ podcast on The DIS Unlimited’s DCL Show walking you through the itineraries.
- The Dreams team will be busy loading ALL of the itineraries into the Dreams system.
- The best way to collect the information I will need to get you more information and a no obligation quote is to go to the Dreams Unlimited Travel Disney Cruise page… it will walk you through the details that we need to get you more information;
- Some of the key information
- WHO – Who is going to be cruising – number of guests – XX adults; XX kid(s) – AGES – If you want multiple staterooms, I’ll need to know the number of people in each stateroom.
- IMPORTANT NOTE – I will need all guests full names – including middle initial, if applicable – as it appears on whatever legal documents you are going to use… AND I need each person’s date of birth.
- Booking days can be busy, so… the more information the better so we can lock down the best stateroom possible for you and your family.
