Sad Halloween Is Over? NOW Is the Time to Book Your September and October Cruises

In what felt like the blink of an eye, the Halloween season is over and Christmas is upon us. If you’ve ever been on a Halloween on the High Seas sailing, you know it’s Disney Cruise Line magic at its very best. If you haven’t, it’s time you experienced it for yourself!

If you’re like my household, we’re all mourning the Halloween decorations being put-up and thinking back on special memories made both at Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line during the season. We went on a Halloween on the High Seas sailing towards the end of October and it might be the best cruise we’ve ever taken. So much so that my three-year-old cried leaving the ship and talks about trick-or-treating on “the Mickey boat” almost every day.

Thankfully, Disney Cruise Line is offering 50% off deposits for cruises March 2026 – May 2027. Meaning you only need to put down 5% now to have your Halloween on the High Seas cruise booked for next year! Even better, you have until final payment to make payments on your cruise and you can still surprise your family with the best Christmas gift ever… a Disney Cruise!

If you haven’t experienced the joy of a Halloween on the High Seas cruise or are just looking for an excuse to book your next one, here’s just a few of the reasons why it’s the BEST Disney Cruise Line experience!

Atrium Decorations

First stepping into the atrium on a Disney Cruise ship is always magical but then you add the Halloween tree and festive bunting, it feels just that much more special. The scale of the decorations is hard to capture in a photo but it truly does bring a feeling of warmth to the atrium that’s visible from multiple decks. It sounds simple but it’s hard not to smile every time you catch a glimpse of the Pumpkin Tree whether it’s on your way to dinner or to see a show. It also provides the perfect backdrop for pictures in your Halloween costumes.

Trick-or-Treating at Sea

Speaking of Halloween costumes, the participation level for Trick-or-Treating on a Disney Cruise is unmatched. I would argue the commitment to really great Halloween costumes is even greater than that in the Disney Parks. Multi-generational families dress up in matching costumes and I’ve seen some of the most unique Disney costumes on a Disney Cruise.

Trick-or-treating onboard mostly consists of getting a pre-filled candy bag on the pool deck before watching the Mickey Mouse-querade Party. However, it offers the same treats as Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and is a much easier way to get candy. Watching your child have the time of their life at a Halloween dance party, sugared up on candy, while sailing the ocean is a priceless experience.

Halloween Character Meet and Greets

One perk of a Disney Cruise is the over abundance of characters with often much lower wait times than meeting them in the Disney Parks. Disney Cruises also offer the opportunity to get a photo with your favorite characters in different costumes like their DCL sailing outfits, pirate costumes, AND Halloween costumes. Additionally, this is the one place you can meet the Sanderson Sisters aka Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle in their special outfits.

Entertainment

Mickey’s Mouse-querade is similar to the sail away party except set to Halloween music and the characters all in their Halloween best. The best part of all, the characters come out to the deck to dance and interact with guests. This almost never happens at a Disney Park and is a rare treat to capture spontaneous moments with Disney friends. In addition to the big Mickey Mouse-querade deck party, there is also the lighting of the Halloween Tree on the first night of the cruise. This really is a do not miss show as the “caregiver” awakens the glowing Halloween Tree with Halloween spirit. It’s another way the cruise feels like Halloween from beginning to end.

Little Touches of Magic

From Halloween music playing onboard the ship, to Halloween movies playing in the theater and on funnel vision, to Halloween treats available at multiple locations, to special merchandise, and guest participation like decorating stateroom doors with Halloween decorations, the entire cruise feels like a Halloween party. If you love Disney Halloween, this is one of the most immersive vacation experiences for it. It’s clear other guests feel the same way with many dressed in Halloween each day of the cruise.

Most of all, Halloween on the High Seas is everything you love and usually experience on a Disney Cruise PLUS a LOT extra. This can also be a great time of year for good rates since it’s not during peak school breaks and holidays. And if you’re worried about hurricane season, Disney Cruise Line does a phenomenal job of making sure your cruise is impacted as little as possible and almost never cancels or shortens an itinerary. In fact, a hurricane was in the Caribbean during my cruise and we were not impacted by weather. We were even able to dock at Disney’s Castaway Cay and experience fireworks at sea on Pirate Night.

If you’re even remotely interested in a Halloween on the High Seas Cruise, this is your sign to book it now! With a 50% deposit that is fully refundable until final payment (except for concierge staterooms), you have nothing to lose. Plus you lock in the best rate, best stateroom selection, and now your Christmas shopping is done. In fact, I’m hoping Santa reads this article and takes a hint at what I’m asking for this year!
