There is so much that goes on behind the scenes at Disney with the theme parks and cruise ships, and even more so when something new is on the horizon. Disney Cruise Line is currently building the Disney Treasure cruise ship and today, an inside look at some of the artwork has been shared in the ship’s log. We also get to hear a little bit from the artist herself!
Lina Barr is a senior concept designer whose role on the Treasure project is creating custom artwork that will embellish the signature venues on Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet. If you have sailed on the Disney Wish, chances are you’ve already experienced a sample of this artist’s incredible work. The photo above shows Lina in her office, where she is currently finalizing several new pieces for the Disney Treasure. It also gives a sneak peek at some of the artwork she is working on.

Lina shared some of what goes into her creative process for the ship’s log. “It begins with a conversation with the Walt Disney Imagineering team, [learning] about the theming of each venue planned for the Disney Treasure, whether that be the Agrabah-inspired Grand Hall or the Jungle Cruise-inspired lounge, Skipper Society. This is not your typical meeting but instead a true, collaborative brainstorm between [the] artist and interior designer. These conversations empower Lina to develop dynamic artwork that will complement each space onboard. She leans into the inspiration for each venue to create a rough sketch on her computer to start, later adding color and details.”
Lina infuses her pieces with magic through intricate details, from hidden Mickeys to story-driven Easter eggs waiting to be discovered by future guests. Upon completing a project, Lina delights in observing guests react to her designs, encountering secret storytelling that only true Disney fans can appreciate.
The Disney Treasure will embark on its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, FL, on December 24, 2024.
