The Disney Treasure is the newest of the Disney Cruise Line fleet and offers some of the best theming and immersive experiences available at any Disney destination! In fact, it quickly became my new favorite Disney Cruise Line ship. The Disney Treasure sails from Port Canaveral on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries and is now available to book through May 2026.
I had the unique privilege to sail on a special 3-night preview cruise hosted by Disney, and while I didn’t have my toddler with me, he’s basically all I thought about the entire cruise! Parents, I know you get this. The good news is that I genuinely believe the Disney Treasure is the MOST family-friendly ship of the Disney fleet. I feel similarly about the Disney Wish (also in the same class of ships), but the Treasure has an extra touch of magic and details I know my son is going to love.
Here are just some of the things that stood out to me as a parent sailing aboard the Disney Treasure!
More Pools
There are 8 family-friendly pools aboard the Disney Treasure plus the Toy Story Splash Zone, Slide-a-saurus Rex, and the Aqua Mouse water coaster. Around 75% of the pool decks on the Treasure are devoted to family-friendly spaces. This is helpful for several reasons, including more space, less crowds, and fewer chances of swimming in “kid soup.”
The Toy Story Splash Zone is basically an all-day activity for toddlers and young children. Think of this as the crème de la crème of splash pads complete with two slides, water sprayers, multiple fountains, and, of course, life-size Toy Story friends your littles can play with. Also nearby is Trixie Falls which is a shallow pool to splash and play in without having to swim.

Another great pool for families is the Chip ‘n’ Dale Pool located on deck 14 forward. This pool somewhat reminds me of the Satellite Falls pool on the Disney Dream and Fantasy… except here you can bring your kids with you. Again more seating, more places to relax and enjoy the pools with the whole family.

Dinner and a Show
Both Plaza de Coco and Worlds of Marvel offer a show element that is captivating for both the adults and the kids. This means 2 out of 3 rotational dinner restaurants come with entertainment from familiar and beloved characters. As a toddler parent, I can’t tell you how nice it is to be able to enjoy a sit-down dinner with my family where everyone is happy.

Even better, what I tried of the night’s two menus for Plaza de Coco and Worlds of Marvel was FANTASTIC. You can’t go wrong with any of the items, but I highly recommend the Birria Empanadas, Chicken Enchiladas, and Chipotle Black Bean Soup from Plaza de Coco and the Ahi Tuna Poke, Chicken Satay, and Salmon Filet from Worlds of Marvel.

So Many Food Options
While not necessarily specific to the Disney Treasure, I love the wide range of food options available for both me and my son. During the day, I really enjoy being able to stop by Mickey’s Festival of Foods to grab mac and cheese with chicken tenders for my son anytime he’s hungry (by the way, both are delicious for the parents, too!) The dinner menus at all of the restaurants offer a wide range of well-balanced meals, plus you can order the essential chicken tenders if needed.

Another great tip for cruising with kids is to grab items like milk, juice, and bananas from the breakfast buffet at Marceline Market to keep in the stateroom fridge. And, of course, do not miss the opportunity to order 24-hour room service, including the elusive Mickey ice cream bars! Room service is included in the cruise price; just be sure to tip the crew member who delivers it (which you can charge to your onboard account).

Everyone’s Favorite Characters… Everywhere
The Disney Treasure is full of a wide range of Disney characters from Moana, Zootopia, and Aladdin to Marvel characters like Groot, Rocket, and Spider-man to Pixar characters from Finding Nemo, Up, and Toy Story to Disney Parks attractions like The Jungle Cruise and The Haunted Mansion. When I first heard about the vast number of Disney stories being told onboard the Disney Treasure, I had a hard time imagining how it would all make sense together. I have to say, in person, it just works. The spaces and entertainment are cohesive in a really genuine way.

What I think my son will enjoy most is the hidden (and not-so-hidden) Disney characters onboard the ship. For example, spotting Disney characters in the carpets on each deck, finding Judy and Nick while getting ice cream at Jumbeaux’s Sweets, seeing Maui in the Tale of Moana show, and getting to sing and dance with Miguel at dinner in Plaza de Coco. Many of these experiences are completely unique and are the real “treasure” of sailing on Disney Cruise Line.

And don’t forget there are numerous character meet and greets each day with shorter lines and more spontaneous moments than in the Disney parks. Plus, there are different dance parties and shows in the Grand Hall with surprise moments from beloved characters like the Genie from Aladdin.

Kids Clubs that Rival Disney Parks
Both the “it’s a small world” Nursery and Oceaneer Club onboard the Disney Treasure are like stepping into the theme parks and your kids’ favorite Disney stories. These spaces are almost identical to those on the Wish, including the Marvel Super Hero Academy, Fairytale Hall, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, and Star Wars: Cargo Bay.

My son is about to transition from the nursery (ages 6 months up to 3 years old) to the Oceaneer Club (3 years old up to 10 years old), and in the meantime, we’ve really enjoyed the open houses in the Oceaneer Club so we can play together as a family. Another great opportunity for this is the “Toddler Time” in the Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck. Typically offered in the mornings, this is another way to let your little one run and play.

Spaces You Can All Enjoy Together
The Disney Treasure offers many great spaces open to the Grand Hall and to families that would otherwise be an adult-exclusive space on the other Disney ships. For example, you can grab a specialty coffee any time of day at the Hei Hei Café or the Jade Cricket Café conveniently located near the Grand Hall because more opportunities to grab a good cup of coffee are crucial to parents.

Even more exciting, kids are allowed in both the Skipper Society lounge and The Haunted Mansion Parlor during the day. Just be sure to sure to double-check these times with the servers onboard. Your kids are sure to love the special effects in The Haunted Mansion Parlor and the waffles at the Skipper Society. The Skipper Society also offers activities during the day, like trivia and crafts for the whole family.

The Disney Treasure is no doubt Disney’s premier cruise ship with so much for families to enjoy together. And don’t be intimidated by the 7-night itinerary with kids; you truly need that time to get settled, experience all there is to do onboard, and have the time to enjoy the small moments that truly make for the best memories.
I can’t wait to take my son on the Disney Treasure, and I think you’ll have a great time taking your family, too! Be sure to let us know in the comments when you’re sailing on the Treasure and what your family is looking forward to most!
