Disney Cruise Line has been giving us sneak peeks of the Disney Destiny – the hero-villain themed ship scheduled to have its inaugural cruise later this year. But Disney has recently released more details, adding to the information it had released earlier.
The Disney Destiny, currently under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, will be the seventh ship in Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet. It will also be the third of Disney Cruise Line’s Wish-class ship – along with the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure.
Last July, Disney Cruise Line gave us an early look at the Disney Destiny, but even some of the concept art lacked some specifics. But Disney Cruise Line held a special event and added many details.
In this episode of DIS Unlimited’s DCL Show, we go through what we learned.
The DIS’s DCLFan.com has more details on everything we discussed…
- Heroine Minnie – We have seen Captain Minnie on the Disney Wish, and adventure Minnie on the Disney Treasure. For the Disney Destiny, we got our first look at heroine Minnie. The DIS on Instagram has the all three of Minnie’s Wish-class outfits.
- The Disney Destiny Great Hall – Early on, Disney provided us very basic concept art of the Great Hall for the Disney Destiny. Disney Cruise Line gave us a much more detailed view, with the Black Panther anchoring the space and even Loci welcoming guests on board. (The DIS on Instagram has a look at the Great Hall statues for the three Wish-class ships… so far.)
- LOUNGE – THE SANCTUM – This is one of the Disney Destiny lounges — on the Disney Wish, it is The Bayou inspired by Princess & The Frog, and on the Disney Treasure, it is Skipper Society inspired by The Jungle Cruise. For the Disney Destiny, The Santum is inspired by Marvel’s Dr. Strange. It features familiar icons like the Cloak of Levitation and spell books from the library at Kamar-Taj.
- LOUNGE – De Vil’s piano bar – This is the lounge just off the Great Hall – on the Disney Wish, it is Nightingale’s, inspired by Cinderella, and on the Disney Treasure, it Scat Cat Lounge inspired by Disney’s Aristocats. De Vil’s is inspired by Cruella from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. During the media event, Disney showed off some of the drinks that will be on board, including the Fashionista, which comes with Strawberry Shortcake popcorn.
- DINING – Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King – This is one of the rotational dining rooms that is inspired by The Lion King. (This dining room on the Disney Wish features Arendale, inspired by Disney’s Frozen, and on the Disney Treasure, it is Plaza de Coco, inspired by the Disney-Pixar film Coco.) During the preview, Disney unveiled some of the foods, which will have an African flavor;
- SNACKS – The treats on the Disney Destiny are also getting a hero-villain theme;
- BROADWAY-STYLE SHOW – Hercules – Disney gave us some previews of a new show coming to the Disney Destiny – Hercules. In a media panel with the creative minds behind Hercules, Disney said they are “one-upping” themselves from the Disney Treasure‘s Tale of Moana stage show. And Corey J. Bradford provided a preview of “Go the Distance.” The DIS on Instagram has images from the three current Wish-class exclusive shows.
- MERCHANDISE – Disney Cruise Line provided an initial peek at the Disney Destiny merchandise collection. There is the inaugural collection, and then the Disney Destiny-branded collection.
- STATEROOM THEMING – Much like its sister ships, the Disney Destiny will have theming that is in the staterooms as well, including the ‘fish extenders’ outside the door and the art behind the beds.
