Disney Cruise Line has rolled out several updates at its private island destination, Disney Castaway Cay, including new cabana names and changes to dining at Serenity Bay.

The Family Beach Cabanas now carry a new name. Guests will see them listed as Sandcastle Cabanas when booking through My Cruise Activities on DisneyCruise.com. The updated format appears as Castaway Cay – Sandcastle Cabana, followed by the cabana number and “Family.” The change does not affect how the cabanas function. It adds clearer theming and helps distinguish family cabanas from other cabana areas on the island.

Booking rules remain the same. Cabanas must be reserved online at the reservation level, meaning only guests on the same reservation can be selected at checkout. Once onboard, parties can add up to 10 additional guests by visiting Guest Services or the Port Adventures Desk. Availability continues to be extremely limited, and cabanas often sell out quickly as Castaway Club booking windows open.

Alongside the cabana rename, Serenity Bay, the adults-only (18+) section of Castaway Cay, has seen a notable dining update. Following the opening of 14 new family cabanas, Serenity Bay BBQ has moved into a new building and now operates as Hangar 98 BBQ. The location is divided into two distinct areas. One side serves cabana guests, with dedicated seating on a deck facing the new cabanas. The other side serves non-cabana guests and is accessed by ramps on the opposite side of the building.

At the time of this visit, construction work continued around the area. The former Serenity Bay BBQ space has been fully cleared out, as you can see in the image below. Additional shaded seating would be a welcome addition, as seating near the new restaurant setup feels limited during busy port days.

The menu at Hangar 98 BBQ remains unchanged. Guests will still find familiar favorites such as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, grilled fish, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. Adults dining at this location can also order a freshly cooked steak.

The updated cabana names now appear on the digital Castaway Cay map. Guests can easily view Sandcastle Cabanas alongside Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas, making it easier to understand cabana locations before arriving on the island.

Sandcastle Cabanas continue to offer the same amenities families expect, including private seating, shade, chilled refreshments, beach access, and personalized island touches. The updates reflect ongoing refinements as Disney Cruise Line prepares for increased demand from its growing fleet.
Booking rules for cabanas remain the same, and availability continues to be extremely limited. Cabanas must be reserved online through the guest’s cruise reservation and can only be booked at the reservation level. This means that when selecting guests during checkout, only those listed on the same reservation should be chosen. Once onboard, parties can add up to 10 additional guests by visiting the Port Adventures Desk or Guest Services.
As always, guests planning a cruise and wishing to rent a cabana on Castaway Cay should secure their reservations as soon as their booking window opens.

Noticed that AED at this site disappeared during construction. Had medical incident there yesterday when I needed it available. But, it is not physically at the location that is noted on the new map you posted above. Looked around area after the patient was transported and asked staff but either got that it was no longer there or that they did not know what I was talking about.
