Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay, is pure paradise any time of year you visit and the holiday season is all the more magical. The perfectly manicured beaches and crystal clear water remain the same but, there are festive decorations and holiday goombay music to keep the Christmas spirit alive.

The decorations include a massive Christmas tree, sand castle snowmen, and wreaths adorned with sand shovels and buoys painted like Santa Claus.

The Christmas tree on Castaway Cay is right as you exit the ship and is complete with “sand” ornaments of starfish, crabs, and sea horses, plus a Disney Cruise Line photographer to capture your next Christmas card photo.

The merchandise on the island remains the same, but you can get all of your Very Merrytime Cruise merchandise onboard the ship.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Disney’s Castaway Cay anymore, the addition of holiday decorations and music made it that much better. My familiar and favorite Castaway Cay day with added the subtle reminder of my favorite time of year!
And as an added bonus, we also got to experience a decorated Port Canaveral before setting sail!

I’m working to convince my family to take a Disney Cruise next year for Christmas, but in the meantime, I’ll be dreaming of a white sand beach Christmas.
