Most of us book a Disney Cruise Line vacation knowing exactly what we’re getting… or at least we think we do. You pick your itinerary, choose your stateroom, count down the days, and start dreaming about time with your family. But what if, months after booking and after the paid-in-full date, Disney announced that your sailing would also serve as a media preview for one of its newest ships?

That’s the scenario some guests are now discussing on our Disney Cruise Line forum after learning that an upcoming October 2026 sailing aboard the Disney Wish will include a special preview event for the Disney Believe, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, which is expected to debut in 2027.
Over on the DISboards, opinions have been mixed. Some posters think it sounds like an unexpected bonus. They like the idea of being among the first guests to hear new announcements, see exclusive presentations, and experience some of the excitement surrounding the Disney Believe before the rest of the public.
Others aren’t nearly as enthusiastic. One of the biggest concerns is that media events don’t feel like ordinary cruises. Reporters, influencers, photographers, and camera crews are often scattered throughout the ship capturing footage, conducting interviews, and filming content. Guests can sometimes find themselves walking through camera shots or waiting for production crews to finish before moving through an area.
For families who booked that particular sailing simply because the dates worked for school schedules or vacation time, that wasn’t part of the experience they signed up for.
Several DISboards posters pointed out that they wouldn’t necessarily mind a special presentation or even a first look at the Disney Believe. Their hesitation comes from everything that tends to accompany a media event rather than the event itself.

On the other hand, some cruisers see it very differently. If Disney is going to showcase its newest ship somewhere, why not enjoy a little extra entertainment while you’re already onboard? Depending on how much access regular guests receive, it could make an already memorable vacation feel even more special.
Disney Cruise Line often holds media events onboard their ships without taking over an entire cruise. Some areas or certain activities may be set aside for invited guests at certain times, but most guests can still enjoy the cruise they booked.
Still, it’s easy to understand why some guests might feel caught off guard if they booked months or even years in advance only to learn their vacation had become part of a major promotional event.
So now, we’re curious… If you had booked a Disney Cruise Line vacation with your family and later found out after the paid-in-full date that it would double as a media preview for a brand-new ship, how would you feel? Would you be excited to be part of the buzz, or would you rather your cruise stay focused on the vacation you originally planned?
We’d love to hear where you stand.
