If you’ve spent a moderate amount of time researching Disney Cruise Line, you’ve probably encountered stateroom categories like IGT, OGT, and VGT. These represent various categories of guaranteed staterooms. IGT stands for Inside Guarantee, OGT for Oceanview Guarantee and VGT for Verandah Guarantee.
What is IGT/OGT/VGT?
A guarantee status means you’re guaranteed a stateroom within the chosen category (Inside, Oceanview, or Verandah), but you won’t receive a specific room number when booking. Your stateroom will be assigned closer to your sail date. Occasionally, guests may receive an upgrade, though this isn’t guaranteed, it does happen from time to time.
Why opt for one of these staterooms? Primarily, they’re more affordable. These options are typically made available after the final cruise payment deadline. However, it’s essential to be aware of certain restrictions associated with them.
First, you must pay for the cruise in full at the time of booking, as these categories are only offered after the final payment date for the cruise. Additionally, you cannot cancel or make changes to a guarantee stateroom. It’s crucial to note—no modifications of any kind are allowed for a GTY stateroom.
These staterooms aren’t available on every sailing. If a ship hasn’t sold out by the final payment deadline, Disney offers these to help fill any remaining rooms.
It’s important to note that while these staterooms typically offer savings, it’s usually not more than what you would save by booking early.
How Much Will I Save?
That’s a great question, and the savings can vary by sailing. On average, you might save up to 20%, but this isn’t a guaranteed amount.
Are These the Same as GTY Staterooms?
No, GTY status staterooms are different. They follow the same deposit, change, and cancellation rules as a regular booking. The only distinction is that you won’t be assigned a stateroom when booking. GTY status isn’t offered at a discount and can be booked before the final payment is due. It’s essentially the same reservation as if you were being assigned a specific room.
What Stateroom Categories Are Available for IGT/OGT/VGT?
Not all categories will be available on every sail date. When offered, they will be limited and based on occupancy at that time. Guests booking one of these categories will assigned a stateroom based on the inside, outside, or verandah category booked. Please note there are also numerous restrictions when booking one of these categories.
