The Walt Disney Company has announced a $1 million contribution to support relief and recovery efforts in Jamaica following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. The donation will help provide essential aid to families and communities rebuilding after the storm, as well as assist Disney cast and crew members affected by the disaster.
The funds will be distributed among several nonprofit partners, including UNICEF USA, World Central Kitchen, and Good360, which are providing emergency supplies, food, shelter, and critical resources to those in need. The contribution also supports Disney’s local cast and crew members in Jamaica, where Disney Cruise Line has maintained a port presence for more than a decade.
“Our hearts go out to the people of Jamaica who have experienced such terrible devastation from Hurricane Melissa, including our Disney employees and their families who call the island home,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “We hope this contribution and the ongoing support from our team will serve as a source of relief and comfort for those in need at this difficult time.”
This latest donation is part of Disney’s ongoing global disaster relief efforts, which provide assistance to employees and communities affected by natural disasters throughout the year. The company also operates the Disney Employee Relief Fund, which offers financial support to cast, crew, and employees facing personal crises or emergencies.
