Disney Cruise Line has introduced some new accessibility features across its fleet of cruise ships, including a pretty cool addition to the popular silent disco parties! The updates are designed to make it easier for guests with hearing or visual disabilities to enjoy more of what Disney Cruise Line offers, both onboard and at its island destinations in The Bahamas.
One of the most interesting additions is haptic vests, which are now available at silent disco parties on all Disney Cruise Line ships. If you’ve ever been to one of these parties, you know how much fun it is watching everyone dance around wearing headphones, often listening to completely different music!

Now, guests who are deaf or hard of hearing can experience the music through vibrations they can actually feel. The vests turn music and sound effects into physical sensations so they can feel the beat and rhythm of the party. What a fun way to make an already entertaining activity more accessible!

Disney has also created braille and tactile guidebooks to help guests who are blind or have low vision make their way around the ships and island destinations. These guidebooks include tactile maps and information about different venues, giving guests an easier way to learn about their surroundings.

The guidebooks are available upon request throughout the fleet, including at Guest Services, as well as at Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
These additions join several accessibility features Disney Cruise Line already offers, including accessible staterooms, assistive listening systems, captioning on Funnel Vision, and an accessible transfer option for AquaMouse on the Wish class ships.

At Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay, guests may also find sand wheelchairs, mobility mats for beach access, accessible transportation, and select excursions that can accommodate guests with limited mobility.

I especially love seeing Disney find new ways to make its entertainment more inclusive. The silent disco is one of those activities where half the fun is watching everyone dance and sing along, and it’s wonderful that more guests will now have a way to experience the music.
