Castaway Cay Day Cancelled Wednesday Due to Hurricane Ian

Passengers currently aboard the Disney Wish have just learned that Wednesday’s visit to Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island in The Bahamas, has been cancelled.

The ship’s captain reported that winds near the island were at 50 knots (57.5 mph) with 6-8 foot waves making it unsafe to dock the ship. The captain explained that they made several attempts to try to “hold the ship” but it simply couldn’t be done safely. With that and reports of deteriorating weather conditions expected later this morning at Castaway Cay, the decision was made to head to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean where the seas will be more comfortable for guests to enjoy an at-sea day.

The Activities Director came on once the captain was finished stating that additional activities would be added to today’s itinerary shortly and that the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app would be updated to reflect those additions.
