Earlier today, Omar Alghabra, Canada’s Federal Transport Minister, announced that cruise ships would once again be allowed in Canadian waters beginning November 1st, 2021. This exciting news paves the way for a full 2022 cruising season, which includes planned 7-night Alaskan sailings on the Disney Wonder out of Vancouver.

“Our government is now ready to announce that we are accelerating the timeline for resuming cruise ship activity. I’m announcing today that cruise ships will be allowed in Canadian waters as of November 1st of this year.”

Cruise line operators will have to adhere to public health and safety requirements that will be outlined at a later time.

Prior to this announcement, the Canadian cruise ship ban restricted ships from docking in its waters until at least February 28th, 2022. There has been no official word yet from Disney Cruise Line on the matter as work is still being done on the restart of cruising based on guidelines from the CDC.
