One of my favorite parts of any Disney Cruise is browsing the shops to see what exclusive merchandise is available. Every itinerary seems to have something unique, but Alaska has become one of the most sought-after collections Disney Cruise Line offers.
I learned that the hard way.
When I sailed aboard the Disney Wonder to Alaska in 2022, much of the exclusive Alaska merchandise had already disappeared by the second night of the cruise. I remember walking into Mickey’s Mainsail hoping to browse through everything at my leisure, only to find empty shelves where some of the most popular items had been just a day earlier.
Fast forward to my recent seven-night Alaska sailing aboard the Disney Magic, and the experience couldn’t have been more different. Firstly, there was plenty of merchandise in both Mickey’s Mainsail and White Caps, which was awesome.
The overall selection looked very similar in size, but this time all of the merchandise remained well-stocked throughout the entire voyage. Whether I visited on embarkation day or the final evening, I never noticed any major items completely selling out. It made shopping so much more enjoyable because there wasn’t the pressure to grab everything immediately.
Of course, every sailing is different. Inventory levels can change, and there’s never a guarantee your cruise will have the same availability mine did. If there’s a particular item you absolutely have your heart set on, I’d still recommend stopping by the shops on the first night just to be safe. And if there’s a line to get in, just wait in it. It’s always better to shop early than to spend the rest of your vacation wondering if you waited too long.
Cozy Seems To Be the Theme
It doesn’t take long to notice that Disney designed much of this collection with Alaska’s cooler temperatures in mind.

There are fleece pullovers, quarter-zips, hoodies, long-sleeve shirts, blankets, winter hats, scarves, Minnie Mouse Ear Headbands with EARMUFFS (!!!), and even plush characters bundled up in cold-weather gear.

The standout piece of apparel during my sailing was, without question, the blue rainbow-striped jacket with “ALASKA” boldly displayed across the back. Everywhere I looked, someone seemed to be wearing one. By the middle of the cruise, it had become almost unofficial attire for our sailing. I honestly saw more guests wearing that jacket than any other Alaska-exclusive shirt or sweatshirt available onboard.
I completely understand why. It’s cozy, distinctive, and the most perfect layer for the weather in Alaska. It also feels like something you’d actually continue wearing long after returning home.
Another item that caught my eye was the incredibly soft sherpa pullover embroidered with the Disney Cruise Line Alaska logo. It looked warm enough for glacier viewing mornings on deck and seemed to be another guest favorite.

There were also several hoodie options featuring Mickey kayaking through Alaska waters, classic embroidered quarter-zips, and long-sleeve tees with vintage-style Alaska artwork.

Plenty for Collectors, Too

The Alaska collection includes several exclusive pins, including a beautifully designed Alaska state-shaped magnet featuring a Disney Cruise Line ship and wildlife.

There are also collectible Christmas ornaments, including one featuring Mickey and Minnie bundled up for an Alaskan adventure with puffin and whale tail artwork on the backs of the Mickey ears.

Travel mugs and tumblers are also plentiful. In case you didn’t know, on Glacier Day, Disney sells a special tumbler, available only up on deck that day, for $23.99. You can have it filled with hot chocolate, or even a spiked hot chocolate. The tumbler available during my cruise is pictured below.
Even the plush selection joins in on the theme, with Mickey and Minnie, both dressed for chilly Alaskan weather.

Don’t Overlook the Blanket
One item worth mentioning is sitting on a regular merchandise shelf, but there is a catch.
The Alaska-themed throw blanket is available as a purchase-with-purchase item for $29.99 after spending at least $60 in the shops.
If you’re already planning to pick up apparel or souvenirs, it’s an easy add-on. The blanket features a cozy knit-inspired Alaska design that fits perfectly with the rest of the collection and makes for a practical souvenir you’ll likely use long after your cruise ends. Many guests were walking around with the blanket wrapped around their shoulders.
A Nice Change From My Last Alaska Cruise
What I appreciated most wasn’t necessarily any single piece of merchandise.
It was being able to browse.
Instead of rushing into the shops on embarkation day because everyone feared items would disappear overnight, guests could actually take their time, compare different pieces, put some thought into what they wanted, and come back later in the week. That made the shopping experience feel much more relaxed than what I experienced in 2022.
Again, I wouldn’t necessarily count on every sailing being stocked quite as well. Disney Cruise Line merchandise has a habit of becoming unexpectedly popular, and Alaska-exclusive items are some of the most collectible souvenirs the cruise line offers. I tried to find Evie, the adorable plush towel animal, but she wasn’t available this time.
If you’re sailing to Alaska this season, make the shops one of your first stops after they open on the first night. Hopefully you’ll have the same experience I did, where the merchandise stayed available all week, but if not, you’ll be glad you didn’t wait.
Whether you’re looking for a cozy sweatshirt, a collectible ornament, or that rainbow-striped Alaska jacket, there’s a good chance you’ll find something that reminds you of your cruise long after the mountains and glaciers are behind you.
