Disney Cruise Line has done something we’ve never seen before; they’ve released the official ship’s log for the upcoming Disney Treasure ship! This official record shares a behind-the-scenes look at the complex shipbuilding process and important milestones in the ship’s journey. Construction began on the Disney Treasure in January of 2023, and the ship is scheduled to set sail in 2024.
Back in March, we saw photos of the ship’s funnel and bow thrusters upon arrival at the Meyer-Werft Shipyard. Later in March, Disney Cruise Line provided pictures of the keel-laying ceremony, and in April, we got our first look at the filigree featuring Voyager Minnie that will grace the ship’s bow. The photo below shows the bow of the ship arriving at the construction hall aboard a barge.
In mid-May, the bow of the Disney Treasure was mounted to the forward section of the ship. The photos below show how a crane is used to install the bow block carefully. In the log, DCL shares how the bow block “was held in position with the help of a high-precision laser scanner until it was fully welded to the foreship.”
The end of May brought the fascinating photo below of what will become The Walt Disney Theatre. You can see just how gigantic the theatre is and how many decks it will occupy if you look to the upper right side of the image where the two Disney Imagineers are standing.
The last entry in the journal, for now, was on June 26, 2023, when DCL shared images of the ship’s bridge. The bridge block is where the ship’s wheel and other important navigational equipment is located.
