A new episode of We Call It Imagineering was released today, and it’s all about beloved fairytale castles. The series invites viewers to take a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney Imagineering, which was inspired by Walt’s original glimpses into the creation of Disneyland. As you watch, you can follow the creative journey as Imagineers design and develop innovative experiences for Disney Parks around the world.
The newest episode in the series is about Building Castles, including bringing an iconic castle to the sea aboard the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Adventure. In the show, we learned that broader nature themes inspired the design of this special castle, and there are subtle nods to some of the most adored Disney princesses, such as Moana, Rapunzel, and Anna and Elsa, creating a castle unlike any seen before.
The images that were shared during the episode are significantly brighter and more detailed than the first artist’s rendering (displayed above) that Disney Cruise Line shared of Imagination Garden. In the Disney Imagination Garden, guests will be able to explore a charming valley that celebrates over 100 years of Disney stories – from Mowgli’s jungle adventures to Moana’s ocean voyage. The vibrant gathering space will also feature live performances on an open-air stage. If you look closely at the images below, you can even spot Mowgli’s Eatery, one of the ship’s restaurants that will feature indoor and outdoor seating.
