Disney Cruise Line has officially taken delivery of the Disney Adventure from shipbuilder Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Disney’s newest (and largest!) cruise ship is now one step closer to calling Singapore home, with its maiden voyage set for March 2026.
What Does “Handover” Mean?
When a cruise ship is “handed over,” it means the shipbuilder has officially completed construction and delivered the vessel to the cruise line. For the Disney Adventure, the handover from Meyer Werft to Disney Cruise Line marks the point when ownership and responsibility formally transfer to Disney.
At this stage, the ship has passed major inspections, technical tests, and sea trials to confirm that its systems meet contractual and regulatory requirements. Once the handover is complete, Disney Cruise Line assumes control of the ship and begins the final steps toward debut, including crew training, provisioning, branding finishes, and any remaining interior or entertainment-specific adjustments.
In short, the handover signals that Disney Adventure is no longer a shipyard project and is now an operational Disney Cruise Line vessel preparing for guests. As fans this is very exciting, as we’ll start seeing footage from inside and outside the ship in the coming weeks!
About the Adventure
The Disney Adventure will be Disney’s largest ship in their fleet, featuring several themed attractions, including the longest roller coaster at sea.
Entertainment will play a central role aboard the Disney Adventure, including exclusive stage productions developed specifically for the ship. For one, an all-new original musical created just for this vessel will feature WALL-E and EVE, alongside appearances by other Disney and Pixar characters.
In addition to a central castle motif and stage area in Disney Imagination Garden, themed areas across the ship will feature immersive experiences that bring the tales from Disney, Marvel, and Pixar to life on a grand scale. The magic will come alive through seven uniquely themed areas: Disney Imagination Garden, Toy Story Place, San Fransokyo Street, Town Square, Wayfinder Bay, Disney Discovery Reef, and Marvel Landing.
Based out of Singapore, the Disney Adventure ship will set sail on its maiden voyage on March 10th, 2026, with three- and four-night itineraries offering magical days at sea.
