Ever since the Disney Wish began sailing back in July of 2022, there have been numerous reports around the internet and on various social media sites with people discussing how they aren’t happy with room service aboard the new ship. Here’s the thing, the menu is smaller and fairly different, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Room service is something that I love taking advantage of during a cruise, especially for coffee delivery in the early mornings and sometimes for lunch. It just feels fancy and vacation-y to me.

One menu item that my husband and I would always order at lunchtime was a B.L.T. Now, I really love this sandwich and it’s funny because it isn’t anything special or different from what you might make at home. It’s made on your basic sliced white bread and has standard iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, a few slices of bacon, and mayo. That’s it. But it is so simple and so delicious. It is no longer on the room service menu aboard the Disney Wish; at least it wasn’t during our cruise at the end of September.

You might be asking yourself right now why there is not a photo here of said B.L.T. for which I cannot blame you. I sat here, for far too long (ahem), scrolling through photos from all of the cruises I’ve been on and I don’t have a single one. Let me assure you that it’s not very exciting looking and that’s probably why I’ve never photographed it.

We usually have late seating for dinner – that’s 8:15 p.m. for those who aren’t aware – and sometimes you need a little something to fill in the cracks. We typically eat breakfast in the later part of the morning on vacation so lunch doesn’t really happen unless it’s something fairly simple and this B.L.T. always hit the spot for us.

We’ve also, on occasion, ordered and enjoyed the baked mac and cheese, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and buffalo chicken wings too. While you will not find the mac and cheese or the grilled cheese on the room service menu aboard the Disney Wish, the wings are still there and so is the tomato soup, which is really nothing to write home about. It’s called “Cream of Tomato Soup” but it just looks like standard tomato soup. I honestly like Campbell’s better, however.

Let’s move on to what we tried that was new to us! Once I got over the disappointment of not being able to order a B.L.T., I continued to scour the menu and found an interesting item – a Pide. I’d never heard of that before but there were two varieties available – a Lamb and Beef Pide described as “Flatbread Crust baked with Ground Lamb and Beef blended with Peppers, Tomatoes, and Cilantro” and a Spinach and Feta Pide which was a “Flatbread Crust Baked with Mozzarella, Baby Spinach, Vidalia Onions, Feta Cheese, and Roasted Cherry Tomato.” Honestly, they both sounded delicious so we ordered one of each.

When I tell you that these were absolutely delicious, I am not exaggerating, even though I do realize that every person has different tastes and food is subjective. My hubby didn’t love the spinach and feta one as much as he loved the lamb and beef one which ended up surprisingly being the clear winner between the two of us. We always love everything with spinach and feta, so that was a bit of a surprise. Anyhow, I highly recommend both of these menu items as they were served piping hot right out of the oven and made the perfect lunch.

Key Lime Pie has been the standard go-to room service dessert for us, but it was not on the menu. There were 3 choices – New York Cheesecake, Chocolate Truffle Cake, or a Chocolate Chip Cookie. We decided on the cheesecake as it was served with raspberry ganache. We would’ve (and probably should’ve) ordered the truffle cake but it had Nutella in it and neither of us cares for hazelnuts, so that was a no-go.

I have to tell you this this “cheesecake” did not have the taste or texture of an actual cheesecake. I’m not really sure how it was made or what it was made with, but it had kind of a weird clear layer of something on the top which was edible but didn’t taste good. You can see it in the image above if you look closely…very strange. As for what was underneath that, it wasn’t even like a no-bake cheesecake. It was just bizarre. I love a good cheesecake and I make them from scratch in a springform pan and all, so I know a good cheesecake when I see/eat one and this was not it. It looked pretty, though.

What are your thoughts on the room service menu changes if you’ve been on the Disney Wish? Are you upset that some of your favorite things are missing?
