The brand-new Disney Wish has set sail on its first voyage, and thankfully, a large group of the team are onboard for a media cruise and are providing us with the most amazing glimpses into the experience on the new ship.
You might think that the first place I’d like to take a look at was the amazing new Grand Hall atrium or the pool areas or even perhaps the spa. Nope. The place I’m most drawn to take a first look at? Marceline Market on deck 14 aft. If you’re like me and you can’t wait to step foot into this new self-service buffet experience, keep reading as we take a virtual tour of the space.
Marceline Market is inspired by the town that most impacted Walt Disney’s childhood: Marceline, Missouri. If you’ve been on the other Disney Cruise Line ships, one look at a picture of Marceline Market will make it very clear that this is a very different area than what we’re used to. Cabanas on the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy is a very tropically-themed location, featuring Nemo and his friends. Everything is incredibly beachy, and to be honest, I love it for being just that.
Marceline Market features ten different food stalls hosted by different Disney characters. Guests can approach the food stalls to choose the food items of their choice, and will find beverages at a café-style station in the center of the space.
The floors are a combination of mosaic tile, wood-toned herringbone patterns, patterned carpet and inset laminate wood, and moveable glass dividers assist with guest flow. The wood tones found throughout the dining location seem to set more of a upscale, yet homey, environment. The entire dining location is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows.
The area of Marceline‘s that I most want to check out on my upcoming Wish sailing? The one hosted by Little Chef, of course. Remy is my favorite and I can’t wait to snap a picture next to his little sign.
Guests will find a little bit of everything in Marceline Market. From international entrées to seafood to all things comfort food; there seems to be something for everyone.
It’s worth noting that the Market will transition in the evenings into a table service location. This model (buffet for breakfast and lunch, and table service with cooked-to-order entrées in the evening) is something that has been tried to varying degrees in the buffet locations on the other DCL ships over the years. It’s always a great thing when there’s an extra option in the evening, and I look forward to seeing what the experience is like on my upcoming voyages on the Wish.
