Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ On the Dream – A Sneak Peek and Why I Love It So

You’ve heard all of us talk about how much we love the stage shows on Disney Cruise Line. They are Broadway-caliber and so well done. There is something so magical about having dinner then going to a show (or vice-versa depending on your seating time) in the evenings. My favorite thing is the flexibility you have of either dressing up or going casual – whichever choice you make is perfect.

Back in 2017 when Disney Cruise Line announced that their version of Beauty and the Beast was coming to the Disney Dream, I was so excited that I could hardly stand it. Beauty and the Beast is one of my very most favorite Disney films of all time. In fact, about 15 years ago when my husband and I were in New York City visiting family, we had the opportunity to go to any show on Broadway and that’s the one we chose. The kids weren’t coming with us that night because they were pretty little and with all the adult-oriented choices we had, we both decided on this Disney fairy tale. We both absolutely loved the show and even though we already knew the story, everything that was old was new again as the story unfolded on the stage. I suppose that when you’re someone who loves magical fairy tales, they never get old.

When DCL first announced this show, they shared a bit of a few favorite scenes, but as most of you likely know, there is no recording allowed in the Walt Disney Theatre, so we didn’t get much. Well, we didn’t get much until last week, anyway.

With sailings on cruise ships being cancelled since mid-March and some through the end of June, there are a lot of people who are missing the magic of Disney Cruise Line more than they ever have before. The Disney Parks Blog has a new way of sharing the magic with Disney fans who are home through their #DisneyMagicMoments series which not only includes special appearances by cast members and celebrities, but also some amazing behind-the-scenes footage and super-fabulous shares like this video below which shows us more than we’ve ever been able to see from home of this simply breathtaking show.

This version was inspired by the live-action edition of the animated classic and again, even though we all know the storyline rather well, this excerpt gives just enough to see the incredibly detailed set pieces, costumes, and a close-up view of the puppetry that you may not see from your seat in the theatre.

Although I have not been on the Disney Dream since this incredible show began, I know that this video does not give away everything there is to enjoy and I can hardly wait to see it in-person one of these days. For now, this will have to do!
