Disney Cruise Line has unveiled the first look inside The Sanctum, a new themed bar and lounge aboard the Disney Destiny, inspired by the world of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange.
Compared to the other Wish class cruise ships in the fleet, this centrally-located venue will take the place of the Bayou Lounge on the Disney Wish and Skipper Society on the Disney Treasure, serving as the ship’s signature midship gathering space.
Dimensional Design
Designed to evoke the mysterious charm of Doctor Strange’s New York Sanctum, the lounge features rich red and gold tones that mirror the colors of the Sorcerer Supreme’s iconic Cloak of Levitation, which is displayed within the space. The decor includes ornate carpets modeled after Strange’s medallion collection and a circular focal point behind the bar reminiscent of the Sanctum’s skylight, illuminated with color-shifting effects symbolizing magical energy.
Mystical Mixology
The Sanctum’s beverage program highlights theatrical cocktails, mocktails, spirits, and specialty coffees, with some drinks prepared tableside in interactive fashion. Signature offerings include:
- Mirror Dimension – served in an interactive glass with a sparkling, electric garnish.
- Circle of Cosmos – presented in an upside-down glass with a spiral lemon peel accent.
Guests can also enjoy signature stuffed waffles filled with custard cream or mixed berry compote for a sweet complement to the lounge’s beverage selections.
Entertainment and Experiences
By day, The Sanctum hosts family-friendly activities such as creative workshops and trivia, while evenings bring live music and adult-focused entertainment. The space is designed to blend relaxation and spectacle, offering guests a new way to experience the Marvel universe at sea.
With its immersive theming and innovative offerings, The Sanctum represents the next evolution of Disney Cruise Line’s specialty lounges aboard the Disney Destiny – and acts as the first Marvel-themed bar onboard any of Disney’s ships!
The Disney Destiny will officially welcome guests during its Maiden Voyage in just a few short days on November 20th; offering a fresh lineup of entertainment, dining, and character experiences at sea.
