On your Disney cruise, you’ll notice that gratuities are automatically added to your stateroom account for select crew members – your stateroom host and your dining team (head server, server, and assistant server). These are the folks who go above and beyond to make your cruise feel like the most extraordinary vacation. From remembering your drink order to creating towel animals that deserve their own award, you can rest assured that you and your traveling party will be well cared for. You can always adjust the gratuity amount at Guest Services if you feel the need to, but trust us, these crew members earn every penny – and then some.
Gratuities are a way to recognize the exceptional service you’ll experience throughout your cruise. Disney Cruise Line’s current recommended gratuity is $16.00 USD per guest, per night, including infants and children. For guests in Concierge Staterooms and Suites, Disney Cruise Line recommends a gratuity of $27.25 USD per night, per guest. This amount covers not only the dining team and stateroom host, but also the assistant stateroom host and the Concierge Lounge team who provide elevated service throughout your voyage.
Pre-paid optional gratuities do not include the following gratuities:
- Extras added to rotational dining meals, such as alcoholic beverages
- Adult dining locations such as Remy, Palo, Palo Steakhouse, and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement, which are not part of rotational dining
- Food or drink in shops and outdoor or poolside eateries
- Room service
- Port Adventures
- Senses Spa & Salon
- Any other additional services
For most of the not-included gratuities listed above, if you sign the receipt, you can add gratuity there, and it will be charged to your onboard account. An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service, and spa transactions. All gratuities can be conveniently charged to your onboard account.
On the last night of your cruise, your Stateroom Host will leave a bright green cardstock sheet of paper listing each crew member’s name and the dollar amount they will receive as gratuity. There are perforated lines for easy tearing, allowing you to separate each strip and tuck it into its respective envelope, which you can then hand directly to the individuals that night or in the morning when you disembark. If you forget to do this, don’t worry, as the crew members will automatically receive the gratuities. We like to use the envelopes not only to tuck in the green strips, but also to give extra cash to the crew who really went above and beyond during our trip.
Regardless of whether tipping is customary in your region, it is something that crew members rely on, and it’s a great way to express gratitude to these remarkable folks.
