If you read the title of this article, you may be yelling at your screen and telling me that the refillable beer mug on Disney Cruise Line isn’t a secret at all, let alone the best-kept secret. In my defense, I spent way too many years seeing the Disney’s Best Kept Secret sign for Disney Vacation Club and now I love applying that slogan everywhere.
So, back to that Refillable Beer Mug. I could not be more in love with my Disney Cruise Line mug. I purchased it within the first hour of my first Disney Cruise Line sailing and I have never regretted it. I don’t remember how much it cost way back in 2013, but the last time I sailed in 2019, you could buy a refillable mug before or at the start of your sailing for $15.25.
What’s the perk of the refillable mug? The mug is 21 oz. versus a standard 16 oz. pour in a normal glass, so doing the simple math, you get 5 extra ounces each time you use it. If you are a big drinker, you’re going to be saving a lot of money over the course of your cruise by having the refillable mug.
Don’t think you can get your money’s worth out of it in only one cruise? The good news is you have the mug for life.
How can I make this sound even better? The convenience. If you buy the mug on the top deck of the ship, you’ll get a safe plastic mug to hold your delicious suds. If you are at any of the bars in the adult districts, atrium, theater, etc… you’ll have a solid and reliable glass mug. If you don’t want to carry either mug around after you’re finished, trade it in for a beer mug card, and your load just got lighter. If you want to take the mug back to your stateroom, don’t forget it the next time you go back to the bar, and the same goes for the card.
Remember that card I keep talking about and how I said you have the mug for life? Make sure you trade your mug in on the last night of your cruise and you’ll go home with the card instead of a heavy mug making it more convenient for your next cruise. If you lose or forget your card, buy another mug. It’s worth it.
