One of the many perks of sailing on Disney Cruise Line is that your dining – including room service – is covered in your cruise fare. Disney doesn’t even charge a delivery fee for most menu items. Until our Summer 2017 cruise, I rarely took advantage of this perk. However, on that sailing, we were exceptionally lazy (which I highly recommend) and we had the chance to really enjoy the room service menu several times. And on our most recent cruise – Podcast Cruise 7.0 – we woke up to room service daily.
Number 5: Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars and Warm Cookies
I have a huge sweet tooth, and Disney Cruise Line does not disappoint. And when I am in the mood for a treat, I love that Disney delivers warm cookies. Now, the menu doesn’t mention that they are warm. Sometimes I ask for them to be warm. Sometimes I forget, but they still arrive warm! Magical.
Another thing that the menu doesn’t mention is that Premium Mickey Bars are available for room service delivery. All you have to do is ask.
Number 4: Room Service for Breakfast
Disney Cruise Line room service offers a continental breakfast service. The breakfast menu is found on a card in the desk drawer in your room. That card is also your order form, which you hang on the outside of your stateroom door. Your menu also allows you to select a delivery window between 5:00 and 9:30 a.m.
My favorites? I like pastries and croissants (see item number 5 above to learn about my sweet tooth). I usually order the fruit bowl too, just to say I did something healthy.
Number 3: Coffee Service
Pete Werner should look away. I know how he feels about the “free” coffee onboard the ships. It’s not the best, but it’ll do, and I love coffee, even when it is merely decent. And, if I am honest, the free coffee on Disney Cruise Line is decent, not great, but totally drinkable. So, how does it make my list?
Disney now serves Joffrey’s Coffee in the dining rooms, at complimentary beverage stations, and for room service. I remember the days when Disney partnered with another brand that I will not mention, and that coffee was terrible. Horrible. Awful.
So, after years of enduring bad coffee (and leaving comments on the feedback forms) Disney has now partnered with Joffrey’s and I will not say a bad word about it. Especially when Disney brings it right to my door and I don’t have to interact with other guests to get it. Sometimes I even enjoy an afternoon coffee service in my room. Thank you Joffrey’s.
Quick tip: Be sure to order extra creamer or a couple of cartons of milk. Better to have too much than not enough. I just write in the request on the card or ask for it if I am phoning in my order.
Number 2: Buffalo Chicken Wings and a Chicken Caesar Salad
Yum! The wings come with bleu cheese. And of the 5 or 6 or 7 times we’ve ordered the Caesar salad, it has always been perfect. It’s simple fare, but delicious.
Number 1: All Hands on Deck
The All Hands on Deck is a cheese plate served with crackers and grapes – also simple, but delicious. Go ahead and order two. There is no shame. This is the perfect snack for enjoying the Alaskan fjords from your verandah. It is also nice to enjoy on embarkation day with a bottle of wine. There really is no bad time for an All Hands on Deck.

Room Service Tips:
Not everything on the room service menu is free. Canned soda, candies, and alcoholic beverages do incur a charge. The Crew Member on the line will happily go over those.
And while room service is free, please tip the awesome Crew Member who delivers your trays to your room. $2 to $3 is plenty. For a plate or two, tip around $2. If I order meals for my entire family of five, I tip more.
Cash is preferred. When you tip in cash it goes directly to the Crew Member who delivers your food. There is an option to tip on the receipt that you sign when you accept your meal, but it has been reported that those tips do not entirely go to the person delivering your items.
