Disney fans can now get an inside look at how the newest Disney Cruise Line ship came together thanks to a brand-new episode of We Call It Imagineering. The latest installment takes viewers behind the scenes aboard the Disney Adventure, showing how Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Live Entertainment brought the ship’s immersive spaces, entertainment offerings, and storytelling elements to life.
For Imagineers, many projects begin with a blank canvas. But the Disney Adventure presented a slightly different challenge. Instead of designing a brand-new ship from the ground up, the creative teams worked to transform an existing vessel with a design for another cruise line into something unmistakably Disney, preparing it for an entirely new homeport in Singapore.

That meant reimagining the ship with experiences that reflect Disney Cruise Line’s legacy while also appealing to guests in the region. The project team spent months researching the local market to make sure the stories and spaces onboard would resonate with travelers sailing out of Southeast Asia.

The ship itself represents a major milestone for the cruise line. The Disney Adventure sailed on its Maiden Voyage on March 10, 2026, welcoming paying guests aboard for the first time. What’s even better, two members of our team are currently on board, experiencing the ship firsthand!
If you’d like to follow along on their journey, be sure to keep an eye on our Instagram stories, where they’re sharing highlights from around the ship as they explore everything the Disney Adventure has to offer.
The new Imagineering episode also highlights the broader history of Disney Cruise Line. The fleet traces its roots back to the 1990s, when Disney Legend and former Imagineer Wing Chao helped design ships that blended classic ocean liner style with modern technology and distinctly Disney storytelling.
That spirit continues with the Disney Adventure. The ship showcases the kind of creativity Disney Cruise Line has become known for, with large-scale entertainment, immersive themed environments, and innovative technology designed to bring beloved Disney stories to life at sea.
The episode also hints at an exciting future for the cruise line. Disney Cruise Line is expected to grow significantly over the next several years, with plans to expand to thirteen ships by 2031 (!!!!). Five additional ships are currently in development, each promising to push the boundaries of what Disney storytelling at sea can look like.
If you’re curious how all of that magic comes together, the newest We Call It Imagineering episode offers a fascinating look at the creative process behind the Disney Adventure.
